Painter and performer Kiki Johnson reaches into the past for her source material, finding talismans and rituals in the objects in historical museums and libraries.  By linking the idea of magic to items that were also everyday tools and humble foods, Johnson points to the way the past informs who we are today, they way selection and collection drives historical narrative, and the possibility for the imagination to rewrite stories of who we were and who we are now.

These prints are 8.5 x 11" and are offered individually. They are printed with Epson Ultra Chrome archival inks on Hahnemuhle German etching paper. The sizes reflect actual paper size, not image size. Semantic saturation is the term for the point at which a repeated word loses its familiarity and turns in to a surprising, alien sound.  San Francisco artist Ajit Chauhan examines objects and processes with such thoroughness that a similar visual saturation gradually gives way to seeing anew. In Chauhan’s work, reiteration appears to spring out of pattern, but reveals itself as a process of understanding and study.  Little Paper Planes is pleased to present an exclusive series of prints by Chauhan.  Barf: "They’ve gone to plaid!” includes 70 unique prints of plaids designed by the artist.

These prints are 12 x 12" and are offered individually. They are printed with Epson Ultra Chrome archival inks on white record sleeves. (Only one side is printed) Each sleeve also comes with an 8.5 x 11in print which has a the "circle plaid" printed on it as part of the process when the record sleeve is printed.  It has the same ink but is printed on 90lb Bright White Lazer Paper.  Each Circle Print is hand numbered, in an edition of 70, along with Ajit’s signature printed in the border.
