Little Paper Planes was started in Los Angeles back in December of 2004 by artist, Kelly Lynn Jones and has since relocated to San Francisco.  The intent of the store was to create a platform where Kelly and her friends whom had just graduated from art school could sell the work they were making.  The store initially started with 8 artists and has grown to over 70+ international artists today.  As the store grew, it was clear this site was more than a store but a site of community both within the circle of artists themselves but also the people who love and support art.  Little Paper Planes helps connect collectors with emerging artists by offering  a range of affordable art within various modes of printing from archival digital, silkscreens, gocco, letterpress, and etchings as well as books, zines, T-Shirts, bags and jewelry.  In spring of 2007, the LPP blog was created where various artists, exhibitions and art related events are featured and discussed keeping up with the dialogue of the contemporary art world.  The blog is related with the store however expands its scope and depth on the greater fine art conversation.  In  the fall of 2008, LPP started offering a monthly exclusive print along with a showcase of the artist work and interview keeping the work unique to the store.  This also marked the first outside curated gallery show of LPP.  The show was curated by LPP and was exhibited at Tinlark Gallery in Los Angeles.  The second curated show debuted in Summer 2009 at Rare Device Gallery in San Francisco and marked the beginning of LPP publishing.  In conjunction of the Rare Device show, there were books made of each of the eight artists. LPP will continue to grow by selecting interesting artists throughout the world to sell in the store as well as be chosen to a part of the newly developed publishing aspect.  The store is operated by Kelly, Cortney, Jess, Yuki, and Willa.
