Brian Scott Campbell

Brian Scott Campbell (b. 1983, Columbus, OH) creates drawings that reflect strange but urgent longings, as well as the aesthetics of false utopias found in contemporary life. He received his MFA from Rutgers University (2010), BFA from Columbus College of Art and Design (2005).  Campbell has exhibited in group exhibitions at Bronx Museum, White Box, Artists Space, Kunsthalle Galapogos, Cuchifritos, and Kunstraum Kreuzberg in Berlin. His work was recently included in the Bronx AIM Biennial at the Bronx Museum of Art (2011).  Campbell has been awarded residencies at the McColl Center for Visual Arts in North Carolina (2011), at the Vermont Studio Center (2010). His work has been seen New American Paintings Magazine and Beautiful Decay. His work has been noted in Art Fag City and Hyperallergic. Campbell recently moved from Brooklyn, NY to take a position as Assistant Professor in Drawing at the Santa Barbara City College. He now lives and works in Santa Barbara, CA with his wife, Lorah.
