Chris Sollars

Chris Sollars work revolves around the reclamation and subversion of private and public space through interventions, the results of which through drawing, photos, sculpture, and video are integrated into mixed media installations. Found materials of detritus, personal artifact, and media are used as a basis to make videos, sculptures, and construct situations.

These projects include:  Street Clean 1997, in which “I pick up trash, wash it, and put it back”; Pile of Trash San Francisco 2002 & 2006 & San Diego 2011 of walking piles of garbage in San Francisco’s downtown shopping district;  Left Behind 2009-2011 is an on-going photograph series of public sculptures made with ready-made-trash and debris on streets and sidewalks around my San Francisco Mission neighborhood.
