Erika Lynne Hanson
Erika Lynne Hanson is a Kansas City based artist, whose background is in weaving and textiles. The weaver specifically oversees creation into object-hood: knowing its past, while understanding its temporal nature - to disintegrate, to unravel, to change. This methodology is wholly applied to her practice of textiles, and recently through the addition of ephemeral materials including ice, plants, wood, and digital media. Inspired by the work and processes of Hudson River Valley school painters Thomas Cole and Frederic Church, in these new projects, she has been exploring the notion of the traditional Landscape - attempts to represent a moment in time that exist only as that, a moment. Here she uses digital video and ice to create and capture landscapes of perpetual change. http://www.elhanson.com/
