Hector Llanquin is a Santiago based artist whose work explores the limitations and glitches of online digital media and computer software. Sunset is a series of digital photographs of sunsets altered by a controlled download error. The files were bitmap transferred via personal messaging software (adium) from one place to another. After the file completely downloaded the transfer was aborted. The result is that the bitmap repeats the last horizontal downloaded pixel to complete the image dimensions. By monitoring the downloading process, the transfer was stopped at a chosen point of the image in order to create a relation between the image and the error. http://hectorllanquin.com/
